I found out some wonderful things about my New Hope, Aion. After scouring through a bunch of message boards over on Aion Source I found an interview that quite a few things to say about how the game is going to play.
How many color dyes are available and are they planning on expanding the current number.(Armor Dye)
lyankyj: Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, Pink +2 other, but you can mix them anyway you want. In GW, you could mix them 3times, it gave you more than 156 options, here you can mix them as many times as you want, so its kinda unlimited
That’s great. I love customization. The more, the better. Lay it on me. So even if there aren’t that many options for armor at launch, (Which can happen. I’m looking at you Age of Conan,) you can still customize it.
Here’s a quick video that shows the armor dying.
Also, a biggie, in regards to exp progression. A lot of people, myself included were worried that since stylistically Aion looked some much like a Korean Grinder, that it would play like a Korean Grinder. Greatfully, this does not seem to be the case.
How is the leveling speed, is it reasonable?
Zyuu: It’s completely acceptable. Feels a bit fast even, but that’s okay, especially for those of us that have a lot to do and can’t afford to spend crazy hours on MMO’s anymore. The leveling curve will be adjusted further I’m sure – plus, you can’t reach even close to the intended level cap yet. They open up more levels in each beta phase. So stay tuned for further information about this.
New_Satan: The leveling speed should be the same as WoW pretty much. You get a lot of EXP for quests. Grinding monsters to level up takes time since mob’s usually die fairly slow. Learning the quests will make it very easy to level up a new character – same as with other mmo’s where quests give a lot of EXP.
Awesome! I know a lot of people get all huffy about how fast it was to level in WoW. For die hard fans it probably was very fast. For me however, it seemed to just drag on. Even EQ2 had faster leveling and so so so much more to do. It also had way better graphics, have I mentioned that I don’t understand why someone would play WoW over EQ2 yet? I’m glad that AION looks like it might have a lot to offer and not just keep me grinding for days on end.
Next up the question that I’d been wondering about. How is this really going to compare to Lineage 2. There was some good in L2. There was also a heck of a lot of bad. Like a total lack of anything to do besides grind. This has been touched on as well.
Would a player who enjoys the game style and play of Lineage 2 like Aion?
Zyuu: Since Lineage 2 really doesn’t offer that much and Aion already seem to offer so much more, I’d like to say yes. I use to play Lineage 2 all the time. We reached level 70+ before C2 was even out. The thing is, L2 only really offer a slow-paced game due to the grind. If they had normal leveling curve, all content would get consumed way fast. With Aion, you have a dynamic pvp/pve system with a lot of cool features on the side. Not to mention more rewarding quests and interesting raids and dungeons. The overall feel of Aion reminds me a bit of Lineage 2. Graphic-wise and some mechanics. However, the crazy grind is not there – instead the Aion Team really seem to think of the fun-factor much much more. A bit early to give an exact answer to this, but I think anyone who have played a lot of L2 would welcome Aion with open arms.
See, what’d I say. Wonderful. You saw the combat in my first post, which was a great advancement in comparison to other MMO’s. You’ve seen the customization in the character creator. Also something I’m a very big fan of. Now to check out the new PvE/PvP system. A Realm Vs Realm war of the Elyos vs the NPC race, the Balaur.
I really recommend clicking through and checking it out in High Quality. It makes all the difference.
Good things are coming. I can’t wait.

Ooo…anyway you can get us info on crafting? Also gotta find an image of a map, and the guild tools..
Oh brother, you had to go and get me excited over this game.
The Dyes alone is phenomenal.

I can look, but I don’t believe they have released any info on crafting yet. Maybe Guild Tools. I saw some vids of some guild activities I’ll see if I can find anything.
