So yesterday OpenEdge1 asked about Crafting, Guild Tools and Maps. These are actually a few things that haven’t been discussed in too much detail yet. For the most part the releases have been focusing on the combat and the PvPvE gameplay portions of the game. My belief as to why this is happening, is because the game so far is only in Korean. Combat is universal. Guild Tools require knowing another language. So I went fishing to see what I could find.
First up. Maps from AionSource
The first one looks like its a map of the Elysea, the Elyos section of the world. On top of everything. The Elyos are the angel type playable race.
In the center you can see the Abyss. Which is where all of the RvR combat is supposed to take place. Between the Elyos, the Asmodians, and the NPC race, the Balaur. There are apparently castles in the Abyss that each faction can fight for. I’m not sure what bonuses these castles might bestow upon their owners just yet. The Abyss just came out in the last Beta.
On the bottom you can see Asmodae. Home of the Asmodians, the demonic playable race.
More maps.
Even the maps have style. Love it.
Next up. Crafting. While I can’t seem to find any actual info on crafting. I found a video of some Korean player crafting. Which suggests that it’s much more along the lines of Everquest 2 of even World of Warcraft when it comes to crafting rather than Guild Wars. Meaning that you have to go to a designated area, and bring your materials to do your crafting there. Some of the animations are pretty nice.
Guild tools are actually something I couldn’t find any solid information on. I know they exists, theres quite a few videos of guilds working together. I don’t know how they come together or what they can really achieve. I’ll try to keep you posted though.
I realized there aren’t many pictures of male characters floating around. Then I took a closer look and noticed the boys looks so pretty that I may have mistaken a few for girls. So pouty.

haha
I love me some feminine looking males….ala FF-X. Seems the trend continues, and I am happy for that.
I will tell you right now, the crafting looked very cool…It is faster than EQ2’s press button mini game, which got old REAL fast. And the fact that the animations look fun, and the little cheer at the end of completion. Very nice.
And since my Map post, I have really been critical of maps in general. Looking at these, I can see
1. It does not cover my screen. Big point (wonder if it is resizable? or movable)
2. Looks like zoom in and out features. Big point.
3. Some marker is on one of the maps. If that is a quest marker, I am sold on the map.
The info still looks good. Greats stuff.
Now, if I could just figure out what is wrong with your RSS. Seems to show broken images and NOT text. Weird. I will see if it is on my end. You better butter up that tech of yours and get them working on that!

Everything about AION seems to be a bit “pretty.” Even those boys. I actually like it a lot.
The crafting did look neat. I liked how all the food and such was dancing on the table. It reminded me of Disney’s Fantasia.
The maps looked solid, I’m sure they’ll have their issues. I still don’t rely on maps much though. If anything I’ll figure my way around eventually.
Dunno what happened with the RSS feed it looks okay on this end. Maybe your blog doesn’t approve of WordPress.

Hmmm..
Something I missed. Seems the lady crafting crafted…everything. I wonder if a player can do all of these? Like EQ2 starts as all crafts…then you specialize?
Looks cool.
Overall the animations are a major step above anything we have seen so far.
AoC you just stood in one place as it made the item. No animations or actions..unlike say WoW, where you at least rub your hands or something..
Bah..AoC.
Anyways, thanks for the info. Looks good.
